Dark printed text on a clean light background is easier to recognise than shadows, glare or patterns.
OCR can confuse similar characters such as 0/O, 1/I, 5/S and punctuation in amounts.
Editable in-place text is an approximation.
The original page can remain as the visual background while recognised lines are placed near their detected positions. Exact font metrics and complex designs may need adjustment.
